Exciting Honeymoon in New York City

June 21st, 2008

What could be more exciting than spending the first days of your married life together in New York City! You will find an abundance of culture, shopping, nightlife, bars and restaurants. Even if you have a modest honeymoon budget, you can find what you need if you plan ahead.

If you want to stay at one of the best luxury hotels in the world, you might consider The Ritz-Carlton. It is the only AAA Five Diamond luxury waterfront New York City hotel, and is situated right next to Central Park.

They have packages that may include one of more of the following (in addition to your room): Broadway tickets, Helicopter tour, Culture (museum) pass, NBC Studio Tour tickets, and Free breakfast/champagne/valet parking.

For more modest priced hotels, check www.expedia.com.

One of the things you’ll love to do on your honeymoon, is take a horse-drawn carriage ride around Central Park. Rides are approximately $34 for a 20-minute ride and $75 for a 45-50 minute tour.

Other Must-See sites:

The Statue of Liberty - Obtain tickets in advance by calling 1-866-STATUE-4.  A better idea is to take the Staten Island Ferry.  It’s free, it takes an hour, and there’s no line.

Ellis Island - Open daily year-round from 9:30am-5:00pm. No admission charge.

World Trade Center - The site and surrounding area now referred to as “Ground Zero.”  Make sure to stop by and go into St. Paul’s Chapel nearby to see the memorial.

Greenwich Village - Picturesque Beecker Street is dotted with quaint shops and neighborhood cafes.  The Village is a great place to wander around with your significant other.

Soho District - Soho is Manhattan’s most famous art district. Its cobblestone streets are lined with art galleries, antique shops, and restaurants.

Metropolitan Museum of Art - Admission is $15 for adults, and the Met is closed on Mondays.

The Empire State Building - It is the city’s most famous skyscraper, once the tallest in the world, and located on Fifth Avenue at 34th Street.
